General Manager - Adult Care Group

£64,408 - £73,961 per annum Inc HCAS pro rata

Full time - 37.5 hours per week

The General Manager for the Adult Care Group will be a key strategic member of the Care Group's senior operational management team. The GM will work closely with the Director of the Adult Care Group, the Head of Planned Care and Service Leads to ensure high levels of operational performance across the Division.

The postholder will manage, lead, and co-ordinate the ongoing work and service development of the operational area using strategic, business and operational skills to ensure the service meets the required performance targets, in line with national requirements, local strategies and objectives. This will require the General Manager to provide business and managerial support to the Clinical Teams in order that the activity, operational and financial objectives of the services that comprise the operational area are successfully delivered. A key area of responsibility for the General Manager will be the creation of Neighbourhood Teams working closely with other providers and GPs / PCNs.

A key requirement on the Person Specification is prior working within a PCN / GP practice at a level which is able to demonstrate the experience of the Person Specification.

Main duties of the job

In particular, the General Manager will be responsible for ensuring that patients receive treatment within contractually agreed waiting time for the whole Group. The General Manager will also need to develop good working relationships with other Care Groups and elements within this Care Group. Ensure that a locality orientation is blended with a pan-organisation focus where required, and that there is constructive, collaborative working with colleagues within the organisation at all times and external stakeholders and agencies as required.

The postholder will have robust experience in strategic management. A key element of this position will be creating and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders (in particular GPs and Primary Care Networks) and partners and representing the organisation in external meetings. The postholder will be responsible for service development initiatives, and will be involved in operationalising the organisation key business priorities in the Care Group working closely with Clinical Leads, Heads of and the Medical Director.

The postholder should have significant experience in using data and tools in order to support service delivery, and will work closely with clinicians in order to empower and drive change.

The postholder will participate in the senior weekend manager on call rota which will involve working 1 weekend in 6.

Service Development:

  1. To be the Neighbourhood Project Operational Lead for the Adult Care Group. Leading on the project management of new initiatives that include new services as part of the Fuller Report recommendations
  2. To develop and lead service development projects in line with annual business objectives.
  3. To work with the staff in identifying and writing service plans and objectives that will develop and advance operational practice, consistent with national and corporate strategy.
  1. To evaluate and benchmark the service against local, national and international organisations, working closely with the infomatics and performance team.
  2. Using performance data to suggest, devise and implement change initiatives in order to drive service delivery.
  3. To work closely with the Safer Care Heads of in order to lead from an operational perspective quality change programmes required
  4. To influence and manage change in a constructive manner, articulating the vision/reason for change, promoting the benefits to the individuals and teams whilst recognising, acknowledging and addressing any challenges.
  5. To attend relevant external meetings and represent Bromley Healthcare in the development of new integrated ways of working with external providers.
  6. To lead on South East London (ICS) core offer pathways for services, which will involve strategic long term plans, providing information on current provision, and conducting gap analysis of service provision, negotiating additional funding and implementing new programmes of delivery.
  7. Define and lead complex service improvement projects across the organisation within agreed timeframes and financial targets within services, working with Service Leads and having overall accountability for the delivery of improvement projects.

  4. Ensuring that staff within the services feel valued, supported and clear what is expected of them
  5. Ensure staff are developed to their full potential through systematic individual performance development review and the establishment of personal development plans, reflecting the needs of the organisation and the individual.
  6. Provide and develop a working environment and open culture which fosters high morale and commitment among all staff and promotes their well-being and personal development. Promoting a culture in which individuals feel able to report incidents and that learning takes place from all incidents and complaints
  7. Develop a strong understanding of the local and regional provision of services outside the organisation and work with the clinical/service leads to react to changes in that provision to secure strong services.
