Band 6 - Senior Employment Advisor - Talk together Bromley

£40,701 - £48,054 Inc HCAS per annum pro rata

Full-time - 37.5 hours per week

The Senior Employment Advisor works alongside Talk Together Bromley clinicians, providing employment support to clients experiencing primary care mental health concerns.

The role involves working directly with clients, employers, trade unions, Jobcentre Plus and employment agencies to support clients in sustaining health and wellbeing within an employment setting. The post holder will line manage and supervise a team of Employment Advisors (EAs) as well as retaining a small caseload of clients.

  • NVQ Level 3 or above in Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) or equivalent
  • Evidence of continuing professional and personal development

Desirable

  • Trained in the IPS approach

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with people who have experienced mental health problems within healthcare, social services, the voluntary sector or mainstream educational services
  • Experience of successfully helping people to obtain or remain in education/work
  • Experience of partnership working, negotiation and liaison work with other agencies
  • Experience of successfully managing a team
  • Experience of providing case management or supervision

Desirable

  • Experience of delivering IPS based support

Knowledge & Skills

Essential

  • Knowledge and understanding of employment/education needs and difficulties for people with disabilities, special needs, and/or mental health issues
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to persuade, motivate and negotiate and a proven understanding of barriers to communication and acceptance
  • Understanding of IAPT and how it supports patient care
  • A good understanding of the principles and practice of supported employment
  • Understanding of relevant employment legislation
