Main duties of the job
About the Role
This new Consultant
Psychiatrist post has been created following an expansion of our Rehabilitation
Psychiatry service. The role provides clinical leadership across:
a. The Specialist Outreach
Recovery Team (SORT) a well-established, evolving community service supported
by a full MDT, including a Specialty Doctor.
b. A 9-bed female Inpatient
Rehabilitation Unit an open recovery unit supported by a Resident Doctor.
The combined inpatient and
community focus ensures continuity of care as service users progress through
their recovery journey, while giving clinicians greater flexibility and
autonomy in clinical decision-making.

Qualifications
Essential
- Eligibility for full registration with GMC with a licence to practice.
- Inclusion on the Specialist Register in Psychiatry at the time of taking up the Post (Specialist Registrars applying in advance must be within six months of their CCT at the point of being interviewed).
- Eligibility for Section 12 and Approved Clinician Approval.
- Extensive experience in Community /Adult Psychiatry essential
Desirable
- RCPsych endorsement in Rehabilitation or Addiction Psychiatry
- Higher academic Qualification (MSc, PhD or other relevant higher qualifications).
- Specialist areas e.g. Asylum Seeker Service, Personality disorder, Eating disorders, Asperger's and Autistic Spectrum Disorders.
- Qualification in Teaching & Learning.
Experience
Essential
- Knowledge of Mental Health legislation
- Participation in Continual Professional Development
- MDT working
- Ability to offer expert psychiatric opinion on full range of emergency and routine clinical situations
Desirable
- Experience in community outreach psychiatry, experience in working in a Community/Rehabilitation/In patient Mental Health Team and CPA
- Experience in Rehabilitation Adult Psychiatry is desirable
