Southwest is delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a Consultant
Psychiatrist to join our expanding Rehabilitation Psychiatry
service, based at Mount Gould Hospital in Plymouth.
This new post
has been developed following a service expansion and offers a unique
opportunity to work across both community and inpatient settings,
supporting continuity of care and enabling flexible, patient-centred clinical
decision-making.
About the
Role
The successful
candidate will provide Consultant input to:

The Specialist Outreach Recovery Team in
the community
-
The Greenfields Female Inpatient
Rehabilitation Unit, a 9-bed open recovery unit
This is a split
inpatient and outpatient role, with:
- 1.5 days per week allocated to inpatient
work

The remainder supporting community care and
professional activities
You will join a
well-established, multidisciplinary team that includes a Specialty Doctor,
a Resident Doctor on the inpatient unit, and a full range of allied
health professionals.

Main duties of the job
This post has been developed following an expansion to the service. The post provides Consultant Psychiatrist input to the Specialist Outreach Recovery Team in the community & the 9-bed female Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit. The split inpatient & outpatient role supports continuity of care for patients as they move through the recovery pathway & provides clinicians with flexibility in clinical decision making.
The successful applicant will work within an established & continually developing community team supported by a full range of MDT professions including a Specialty Doctor & an inpatient open recovery unit of 9-beds supported by a Resident Doctor.

Qualifications
Essential
- Eligibility for full registration with GMC with a licence to practice.
- Inclusion on the Specialist Register in Psychiatry at the time of taking up the Post (Specialist Registrars applying in advance must be within six months of their CCT at the point of being interviewed).
- Eligibility for Section 12 and Approved Clinician Approval.
- Extensive experience in Community /Adult Psychiatry essential
Desirable
- RCPsych endorsement in Rehabilitation or Addiction Psychiatry
- Higher academic Qualification (MSc, PhD or other relevant higher qualifications).
- Specialist areas e.g. Personality disorder, Eating disorders and Autistic Spectrum Disorders.
- Qualification in Teaching & Learning.
Experience
Essential
- Knowledge of Mental Health legislation
- Participation in Continual Professional Development
- MDT working
- Ability to offer expert psychiatric opinion on full range of emergency and routine clinical situations
Desirable
- Experience in community outreach psychiatry, experience in working in a Community/Rehabilitation/In patient Mental Health Team and CPA
- Experience in Rehabilitation Adult Psychiatry is desirable
