Job summary
We are looking for an outstanding Specialty Doctor to join our team based in our Plym Neuro Rehabilitation Unit on the Mount Gould Site. You will join a team of four doctors who are committed to providing the very best care for patients who are limited by frailty, neurological or severe illness. The team have a mix of specialty backgrounds and are proud to form a part of the wider multidisciplinary team, which include one Foundation Year 2 trainee.
The job itself is varied: You will be based on the inpatient neurological rehabilitation ward, but will also liaise with teams in acute hospitals, outpatient clinics and you will provide some cross cover of other stroke inpatient areas on the Mount Gould site. You will need to be ready to visit people in their own homes and in care homes. Forward thinking will be second nature to you and you will be able to provide sound clinical leadership to the team with ease. Working closely with your Consultant and the operational staff, you will be key to ensuring smooth functioning of the service, including the out of hours on call rota.
Main duties of the job
Assessment of all new admissions to the unit & timely completion of discharge documentation.
Review of clinical deterioration in patients at the guidance of nursing staff or medical colleagues.
You will be expected to provide reciprocal cross cover for leave of other medical staff. Short-term sick leave will be similarly covered.Secretarial support is available.
Inclusion on the non-resident on call rota based at Mount Gould Hospital.
You will work as a member of the Medical Directorate, ensuring patient care is based on need and ensuring services are accessible and acceptable to patients and carers.
Be available by appointment to meet with family members and other carers when appropriate to discuss patients management and progress.
There will be opportunities to develop specialty skills depending on interest and availability.
To have a yearly appraisal as required for the purpose of revalidation.
You will be expected to uphold the principles of clinical governance and to adhere to the organisations clinical governance requirements as outlined in Standards for Better Health. You are expected to be actively engaged in the organisations clinical governance programme.
They will be expected to undertake clinical audit activity in line with the department audit programme. Multi-disciplinary audit is strongly encouraged.
