Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the City of Plymouth for a Principle Social Worker. (PSW). The Postholder will work within a modern, integrated system, directly employed by Livewell Southwestbut also working across to Plymouth City Council.We are in the process oftransforming & improvingour Adult Social Care & Health system in Plymouth & this post is central to shaping & delivering that transformation& ensuring it is supported by safe, quality practice.

The post holder is expected to be able toprovide effective strategic leadership & management to ensure both LWSW & Local Authority work in accordance with best practice & meets it statutory duties related to ASC. You will need to fulfil the functions of PSW for Adults to ensure we meet professional responsibilities & maintain a motivated skilled workforce where staff feel valued, respected & their wellbeing is a priority.
Main duties of the job
To be successful in this role you must have: Excellent understanding of Health, and Adult Social Care at an operational & strategic level within a breadth of settings Specialist knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Adult Social Care & Safeguarding Adults legislation/policies/procedures and best practice, Safeguarding Adult Boards, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, Liberty Protection Safeguards, Integrated Care Systems, Mental Capacity, Person in a Position of Trust (PIPOT) and leading organisational enquires under Section 42 of the Care Act 2014. Excellent understanding of delivering governance around Adult Social Care functions, Safeguarding Adults, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards & Mental Capacity Excellent understanding of quality assurance & evidence based practice improvement Excellent understanding of workforce development, recruitment and retention in Adult Social Care Experience of Multi-agency at a strategic level in Adult Social Care, Safeguarding Adults and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards in a leadership and management role Be able to lead on Person in a Position of Trust ( PIPOT) cases, including chairing PIPOT meetings & other strategic meetings as would be expected at this level.
