Job summary

The Plym Neuro Rehab Unit at Mount Gould Hospital is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the team on a permanent basis for 37.5 hours per week (full time).

The Plym Neurological Unit is a Consultant led 15 bedded Unit, currently accredited as a Level 2a service unit based at Mount Gould Hospital, Plymouth, but working towards Level 1.

The post holder will need to travel and attend to service users based across Plymouth and other geographical areas. Full and valid driving licence and access to a car for work purposes is required. Reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act will be taken into account for the successful applicant.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate needs to have experience of working in the clinical area of neurology and welcome the opportunity to further develop and broaden their skills and knowledge in neurological rehabilitation, whilst networking with appropriate agencies.

The range of complex neurological conditions can include: Acquired Brain Injury, Spinal injury/conditions, Multiple Sclerosis, Guillain Barre, and patients requiring tracheostomies.

We can accept patients from the age of 16 years on an individual assessment basis and from across the regions of Devon and Cornwall and work with Regional and National Specialist Neuro Rehabilitation centres.

The successful candidate should also have the experience / knowledge of working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team that includes a Consultant, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Neuro-Psychology, and Speech & Language Therapy, and possess excellent communication skills.

All Livewell Southwest staff are expected to be able and willing to work across a 7 day service.
