Job summary
Up to 37.5 hours per week. This is an exciting opportunity to support the development of our Employment Advice & Support as an Employment Advisor (EA) embedded within NHS Plymouth Talking Therapies. The EAs work alongside their therapist colleagues to ensure that a personalised package of combined psychological treatment & employment support is available to all clients who choose to be supported in this way to remain in, get back to & find work.
This is a fixed term post until the 31st March 2025, with the prospect of extension beyond this date.
EA in Talking Therapies has been set up to increase the availability of employment support within Talking Therapies providers to ensure there is sufficient employment support capacity to provide combined therapy & employment support for people who are employed, those off sick from work & those who are out of work.
Following the positive evaluation of EA in NHS Talking Therapies, we are now expanding EA in NHS Talking Therapies to Plymouth.

The intention of this initiative is to ensure that all NHS Talking Therapies providers are able to offer a combined package of psychological therapy & employment support to all NHS Talking Therapies clients who need it.
All Livewell Southwest staff are expected to able and willing to work across a 7 day service.

Main duties of the job
The principal role of the EA is to provide Information, Advice & Guidance to all NHS Talking Therapies clients who choose to receive employment support. The EA should work to empower the client to make better decisions about their working lives, communicate better with their colleagues and managers at work.
The EA is responsible for engaging with the client to establish the clients employment goals. The EA will work with the clinician & the client to produce a personalised action plan to ensure that psychological treatment & employment support are provided to support the individual to improve their mental health and meet their stated employment goals, which may be to improve their current employment or find alternative work.
We are looking to recruit Employment Advisors to help shape our Employment Support offer to Patients. We are looking for solution focussed people to help patients overcome barriers in either finding or retaining work. We need a team of people who are excellent communicators, have the ability to influence and have strong advocacy skills.
We offer patients telephone, video or face to face appointments to meet their needs. This enables the team to work flexibly in a hybrid role.
This role may not be eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route, please refer to the Direct Gov website for more information with regards to eligibility.
