Job summary

We are looking for an experienced Psychosexual Psychotherapist to join our friendly multi-modality Psychotherapy Services team.

This is a permanent vacancy that is for 15 hours per week. Hybrid working could be considered for the right applicant.

The Psychosexual Psychotherapy Service is well established and seeking an enthusiastic, committed individual to drive its continuing success. You will be provided with regular line management, supervision and access to CPD opportunities. We look forward to hearing from you and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the role

Main duties of the job

To provide a comprehensive Psychosexual Therapy Service, including specialist assessment, treatment and follow up according to needs, using evidence based interventions.

To provide specialist assessments of individuals and couples referred to the psychosexual therapy service based on appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including referral information, in depth individual interviews, self report and observation and collaboration with other professionals such as mental health colleagues.

Taking into account the range of treatments available, to formulate and implement plans for the specialist treatment of individuals and couples. The formulation to be based on an understanding of complex factors related to the personal development of the individuals, their past experience, sexual health status and the nature of the dynamics that have shaped their relationship. The implementation to take in to account individual needs and circumstances, personal preference, general health, disability, resources and motivation and to be informed by theoretical and therapeutic models, current evidence based practice and the ongoing evaluation of the outcomes of the intervention.

To use a range of psychotherapeutic techniques as required in order to meet the needs of different patients and situations.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree/Diploma or higher in relevant subject i.e. Nursing, Counselling, Social Work, etc. or equivalent
  • A qualification in Sex and Relationship Therapy such as diploma (or equivalent) in Sex Therapy
  • Be accredited by COSRT and be registered with UKCP or meet the criteria to be registered as a Sex and Relationship Psychotherapist
  • Training and consultation skills

Desirable

  • Be accredited by COSRT and be registered with UKCP
  • Supervisory qualification/training

Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 2 years as qualified sex therapist, working with people with sexual dysfunction
  • Demonstrable experience as qualified and senior therapist
  • Experience of working with individuals and couples
  • Experience of working with a wide range of client presentations, including LGTBQ+ clients
  • Ability to make use of clinical supervision (evidenced by a counselling supervisors statement)
  • Experience of continuous professional development(consistent with core theoretical model)

Desirable

  • Experience of working with neurodiverse clients
  • Experience of contributing to service evaluation
  • Experience of using audit and evaluation methods
  • Experience of working with groups
  • Experience as a supervisor
