Job summary
37.5 hours per week. We are looking to appoint a registered Occupational Therapist for the band 5 rotation.
This post is appropriate for newly qualified therapists. The rotation runs in partnership with University Hospitals Plymouth (UHP) across both LWSW services and teams, and based at UHP's acute sites.
The rotation offers exciting opportunities within adult and older peoples services, including urgent care, stroke pathways, neuro rehab, community therapy and medical wards (cardiovascular, respiratory, trauma and orthopaedics). The role will involve assessment and discharge planning, prevention of hospital admissions, in addition to neurological and physical rehabilitation. The successful applicant will be expected to work within the ethos of LWSW, supporting people to lead independent, healthy lives.

The post holder should be confident in working collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams & possess excellent clinical and communication skills. They should be able to work flexibly to potentially cover 7 day working. Main duties of the job
Summary:
- To assist the team lead and senior therapists in planning, coordinating, and delivering Occupational Therapy services on a day-to-day basis.
- To manage a defined caseload using evidence-based/client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions and contribute to the service provision.
- To provide assessment and treatment of patients on wards, in their own homes and other community care settings.
- To maintain clinical records.
- To develop skills and knowledge through participation in the Preceptorship programme and relevant competency frameworks.
- To gain experience through the involvement in the rotation scheme.
- To work with patients living in Plymouth, Devon and Cornwall.
Key Working relationships:
-Within the organisation:physiotherapists, ward managers, nursing staff, SHOs, Consultants, psychologists, psychiatrists, speech & language therapists, social workers, ward clerks, administrative staff, prosthetists, podiatrists, hotel services, dieticians, advanced practitioners, paramedics, discharge coordinators, social care colleagues and community teams.
-Outside agencies and bodies:Sensory teams, Reablement teams, housing dept and associations, local council departments, third sector services and charitable bodies, acute service OTs, GPs, community equipment services, residential and nursing homes, community pharmacists, home care staff (including enablers), benefits advisors and wheelchair services.
