Job summary
This is an exciting developmental post for a band 2 into a band 3 Health care assistant. This post will involve competencies which will need to be completed within 6 months & will be assessed through various methods including feedback, self-directed assessment, direct observation & through line management. If not achieved within the specified timeframe will not be able to progress onto the band 3
Plymbridge House a 12 bed, regional inpatient unit, supporting young people from across Devon aged between 12-18 years, with severe & complex mental health disorders such as PTSD/psychosis anorexia nervosa/severe depression/anxiety conditions. Some of the young people will be detained under the mental health act
The role is challenging but rewarding. Working alongside a supportive & motivated team to provide high quality care to young people you will be supporting the registered staff in delivering day to day care
There is an experienced Multi-disciplinary team (MDT) comprising of a large nursing team, medical, occupational therapy, clinical psychology, family therapy & education teams. You will be given the opportunity to work alongside the MDT taking part in therapy groups & clinical reviews

Main duties of the job
You will follow a six month developmental pathway to complete your competencies into the Band 3 Health Care Assistant (HCA) role.
Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, you will work with all members of the MDT, to contribute to the provision of the highest standards of patient care delivered with dignity/respect/compassion. This job description is to be read in conjunction with the core skills list for this particular job.
To support the delivery of a high quality, safe & compassionate healthcare service, all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work & consistently demonstrate LWSW's values of People focused/Respect/Integrity/Dedication/Excellence &demonstrate behaviours that support/encourage an inclusive culture.
The role of the HCA is to assist the registered nurse in delivering personal care to patients/clients within a ward setting.
You will be directed to undertake tasks once adequate instruction has been given by the registered nurse & both parties are confident that the task can be fulfilled competently. The registered nurse will be required to carry the responsibility for decision making &direction of care.
Develop & maintain a good working relationship with people or clients through regular contact & ensure their safety &well-being.
