37.5 hours per week. This is a Recruit to Train post, if successful at interview you will be undertaking the Child and Young Persons Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Programme - CBT Strand. The post holder will be based in Plymouth CAMHS, Therapies Pathway.
Following completion of the training you will be in a permanent position offering CBT interventions within this pathway.
The postgraduate diploma is undertaken at Exeter University, it will provide specialist post qualification training in CBT for professionals with experience of working within a mental health setting with children and young people.
The successful candidate/s will undertake 1-year full-time training starting in January. This is a training course funded by NHS England Workforce Training and Education (formally Health Education England) trainees will be studying at the University of Exeter 2 days a week and within the workplace setting 3 days per week.
University teaching is delivered on a Monday and Tuesday through a combination of face to face and online teaching - this will comprise of a minimum of 50% face to face teaching at Exeter University campus.
Teaching overview will comprise of: Core skills for working with young people with mental health problems and their families (60 credits) and Evidence based CBT with children and young people (60 credits).
Main duties of the job
The first year of this role you will undertake a postgraduate diploma at Exeter University, it will provide specialist post qualification training in CBT for professionals with experience of working within a mental health setting with children and young people.
Trainees will be required to complete 200 clinical hours of supervised CBT practice, working with children and young people experiencing moderate depression and anxiety (minimum 8 individual completed cases covering a minimum of 3 different disorders).
Trainees will be required to video record therapy sessions as part of their training.
Trainees will have the opportunity to observe at least 6 hours practice of an experienced CBT therapist throughout the year.
Trainees will have a minimum of 1 hour per week CBT supervision from a BABCP accredited supervisor (who holds or is undertaking the CYP IAPT supervisors course).
Following completion of the training you will be in a substantive post with Plymouth CAMHS Therapy Pathway, undertaking CBT interventions.
