37.5 hours per week. An exciting secondment opportunity has arisen; initially for 3 months but with scope to be extended to join the Adult Safeguarding pathway as Team Manager.

The Adult Safeguarding team within Livewell Southwest holds delegated responsibility on behalf of Plymouth City Council for the completion of Safeguarding enquiries and investigation in relation to Section 42 of the Care Act (2014).
The team manager role is pivotal in the operational day to day management of the Adult Safeguarding function; with close partnership working with Plymouth City Council. The successful candidate will provide visible and inspiring leadership to the team of social workers holding operational responsibility for the triage, quality assurance and authorisation of Adult Safeguarding enquiries.

Main duties of the job
To support the Directorate Manager in
the professional development of social care staff within the Adult Safeguarding team. This will include providing
professional specialist advice, support, guidance, and practice supervision to
a range of qualified and non-qualified staff working within Adult Social Care.
This role will include activities that promote continuous professional
development and the delivery of high-quality support to users. The post holder
will be required to demonstrate a high level of professional competence in
social work practice to nationally recognised standards in particular surrounding Adult Safeguarding best practice, adopting a
person-centred and reflective approach. The post holder will be directly
responsible for professional supervision and appraisal of staff. Reporting to
the Directorate Manager when required. The post will promote the delivery of statutory duties relating to the Care Act (2014) and departmental
policy.
The post will require the successful candidate to provide the day to day operational management of the Adult Safeguarding pathway in Eclipse which may require a number of key tasks including triaging of incoming and waiting work, allocation of Safeguarding enquiries, the quality assurance surrounding protection plans and the need to chair complex meetings such as Safeguarding strategy, risk management and best interest decision meetings.

leadership role within the Team including demonstrating best practice, mentoring
staff and promoting the highest professional standards via peer reviews and
audits.
To manage performance of staff in collaboration
with the Directorate Manager, including the implementation, monitoring and
review of practice improvement action plans for individuals and groups of
staff.
Concentration required when providing supervisions
and practice guidance; ensuring staff work within legislation, national and
local procedures. There will be conflicting demands when more than one person
requires support at the same time.

to use judgement to assess a particular situation and decide on the best
resolution and advise the worker accordingly.
