An exciting opportunity has been developed within Livewell SW. In the Acute Pathway Manager role you will lead on areas of development such as our exciting new CAMHS Home Treatment and Crisis Liaison offer using the iThrive framework to inform the pathway development. Our ambition is to continue to work towards a trauma informed offer which places Children, Young People and their Families at the centre of care and to work collaboratively with the services that support them.

This service will operate between the times 08:00 - 22.00hrs, over 7days. This sits within a wider framework of 24/7 response for Children, Young People and their families within the Plymouth area. There will a requirement to work collaboratively with Senior Managers and other Clinical Pathway Managers.

Main duties of the job

  • Clinical support to the CAMHS Acute Pathways on a day-to-day basis.
  • Contribution, alongside senior members of the team, in development of service provision
  • Contribution to the Continuing Professional Development Programme (CPD) -10 per annum
  • Day to day Management of the CAMHS Acute Pathway including home treatment team and CAMHS crisis liaison team.
  • Case management of staff and undertaking regular line management and appraisals of Clinicians
  • Practice Supervision.
  • Chairing regular team meetings, attendance to the Senior CAMHS Business meeting on a regular basis.
  • Contribute to the regular chairing of the weekly CAMHS Core Meeting.
  • Monitoring and developing work streams, RTT, ROMs evaluation and monitoring requirements, Data monitoring and reporting.
  • Promote and embed national and local work to reduce the stigma associated to mental health.

Job responsibilities

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) within Livewell Southwest

As an operational manager the post holder will be required to participate in the operational managers on-call rota if requested to do so by the Chief Operating Officer.

The pathway will have two functions:

1. To respond to CYP presenting in mental health crisis at the local general hospital using a psychiatric liaison model which will include providing education, training and consultation to hospital staff. The team will also provide crisis response to young people in the community setting, this might include providing intensive community support, risk assessment and management.

2. The other function will be a Home Treatment offer developed and delivered through the acute pathway. You will deliver a model of care that minimises the number of children and young people needing acute and/or CAMHS inpatient unit admissions. Delivering a robust step up or step down model for CYPFS. The Acute Pathway will ensure that children and young people receive immediate and ongoing support that is timely and coordinated. Working in partnership with the wider CAMHS as well as external agencies such as University Hospital Trust, Children Social Care and education. This will inform an important aspect of our work as we move towards a trauma informed approach that recognizes the impact ACEs on a young persons mental health.

  • Improve children and young peoples mental health through the effective delivery of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) through provision of multi-disciplinary delivery for school aged children and young people aged 0-18 providing safe, effective, cost efficient, timely and accessible services that are in accordance with national and local priorities and responsive to the needs and views of local children, young people and their families.

  • As one of the clinical pathway managers you will provide an element of specialist clinical practice to be agreed with the service manager, taking into consideration the level of management responsibility within this post as the post holder will have day to day management of one of the CAMHS Pathways. You will work as part of the senior management team within CAMHS in conjunction with the wider CAMHS and local general adolescent inpatient unit.

Essential

  • Degree / Diploma in Nursing or Social Work.
  • Professional qualification relevant to CAMHS, e.g. RMN, social work or post graduate diploma.
  • Active registration with the relevant professional body.
