Do you want to challenge yourself and work where no two days are the same, then an exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our friendly First Response Service.This is an ageless service, that promotes a dynamic and innovative way of working, triaging and responding to crisis referrals.
The role encompasses the NHS principle, right care right time and right place. The First Response service triages mental health crisis calls and referrals providing tele coaching psychological interventions , support guidance and signposting. The service further delivers timely and responsive face to face assessments where indicated.
You will be welcomed into a role by an established team, and provided with an excellent induction program which will provide you with access to accredited risk and clinical skills training as well as a robust practice supervision framework to support you in your role.
Main duties of the job
The role of the Mental Health Practitioner (First Responder) is to provide brief clinical risk and mental health assessment, formulation and short-term contingency planning for people presenting in mental health crisis.
Using an evidence-based approach and routine outcome measures you will provide a strength-based approach to work collaboratively with other stakeholders both statutory and non-statutory , through Attendance at Risk management meetings and other forums to ensure the care pathway identified for a patient who comes through the First response Service is actioned
Supervision and guidance to junior staff is an essential part of the role and you will be expected to share your skills and experience with those around you.
The role of Mental Health Practitioner (First Responder) will require working collaboratively with key partner organisations, service users, carers, clinicians and other practitioners within a multi-disciplinary team in delivering services. The service provides a 7-day a week, 24-hours a day service for 365 days a year and involves working shifts.
Although based in the First Response Service the service and role are part of our integrated community mental health service offer and as such may also provide the opportunity to work across different team(s). There may also be opportunities in the future to work in our Home Treatment Team, Alternative to Emergency Department Service and Psychiatric Liaison.
