Job summary

37.5 hours per week. The Glenbourne Unit is actively recruiting motivated and professional Band 5 Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurses who are looking to work in our Outstanding rated Male and Female Acute Ward as awarded by the Care Quality Commission.

Harford and Bridford Ward both have 19 beds for male and female patients and posts are available across both wards.

Here at the Glenbourne we received an overall rating of outstanding, and we are one of only a few units of its kind to achieve this rating within the UK.

The unit was praised in particular for the compassionate care provided by staff, noting the 2015 mental health inpatient survey that rated nurses at the Glenbourne unit the highest in the country for treating patients with dignity and respect.

Main duties of the job

The postholder is responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.

You will be designated to take charge regularly of the ward.

The postholder is required to supervise staff and be able to teach qualified and unqualified staff, including basic and / or post basic students.

The staff nurse will at all times work within the spirit of the NMC code of Professional Conduct for trained nurses and local policies.

You will need to have a passion for working with people with mental health needs and possess excellent communication skills as you will be alongside other professionals, families and carers.
