An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Prosthetics Rehabilitation Service for a Prosthetics Nurse. We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and innovative person to join our friendly team providing high quality care to amputees and people with congenital limb difference.
Main Duties
You will work as part of the MDT which includes Prosthetists, Physiotherapists, Technicians and Clinical Assistants to support the rehabilitation and lifelong prosthetic care of patients who have undergone amputation / limb difference.
Main tasks include triaging referrals, assessment of new and established amputees (face to face and telephone / virtual), liaison with wide range of professionals involved in patients care to ensure timely input, onward referral, providing wound care and expertise / advise to patients and other professionals, writing of clinic letters, teaching / education alongside line management of prosthetic assistants. Main duties of the job
The prosthetics rehabilitation service (PRS) is a multidisciplinary team providing high quality care for people living within the commissioned areas of Plymouth, Cornwall and South West Devon who have undergone amputation or congenital limb loss. As well as a central hub in Plymouth, the service is provided within Cornwall from Camborne & Redruth Community Hospital.
The post holder is expected to act as nursing lead providing clinical nurse specialist support to the wider Prosthetics Rehabilitation Services across national, regional and local boundaries. The post holder will be based at the Thornberry Centre but may spend time working at other clinics, hospitals, nursing / residential homes and patients own homes in Plymouth and other areas covered by the commissioned service. The post holder will have a specialist clinical role within the Community. The post holder will work across the PRS catchment area in such a way as to enable colleagues to collaborate in providing care and services for patients. The post holder will also be required to offer nursing support to the Livewell Southwest Orthotics service when required.
