The post holder will support the coordination, development, and promotion of the Volunteer service within CityCare.

You will support the Apprenticeship and Career Engagement Manager to provide a high-quality volunteering experience across the organisation and will liaise and communicate with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

Working in collaboration you will ensure all volunteer activity is aligned to the Volunteering Policy and deliver all aspects of the Volunteering 3 year Strategy.

The postholder will develop and support new volunteering opportunities and be a key point of contact for all staff to receive advice on volunteering within the organisation.

Main duties of the job

This role sits within the Learning and Development team at Nottingham CityCare which is based at Aspect House in Bulwell. You will be expected to attend occasional off site local events. There is some flexibility for hybrid working.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about supporting and developing volunteer opportunities and experiences at CityCare.

You will be working alongside the Apprenticeship & Career Engagement Manager to ensure the volunteer programme is well organised, supported and momentum is maintained to expand and develop volunteer opportunities.

You will need to be a confident communicator as you will be dealing with a range of individuals internally across the organisation and externally with partners and stakeholders.

This role sits within the Learning and Development team at Nottingham CityCare which is based at Aspect House in Bulwell.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a first point of contact for potential volunteers contacting the service and provide information on the range of volunteering available across CityCare.
  • To ensure an effective customer service by answering telephone and email requests and dealing with direct inquiries from potential volunteers and external agencies, i.e. external stakeholders and partners in a helpful and courteous manner, using own initiative and discretion as appropriate. This will include some decision making as to when to escalate any concerns, potential barriers etc. to the Apprenticeship & Career Engagement Manager
  • To raise the profile of Volunteering in the organisation, ensuring that the volunteer contribution is well-organised, supported and that they remain motivated, ensuring a positive experience.
  • Send out relevant information/application packs for voluntary work in a timely manner.
  • Offer support to line managers with volunteers across the Trust, reviewing and monitoring placements and volunteer progress.
  • Maintain and regularly update volunteer information packs and volunteer vacancies.
  • Maintain good contact with volunteers by telephone or face to face and visit volunteers in the area they are supporting.
  • To support the Apprenticeship and Career Engagement Manager to organise and arrange events for volunteers such as Volunteers Week, Recruitment Events, and the Volunteer Socials and attend outside events such as Recruitment Fairs organised by local voluntary centres.
  • Take a proactive role in disseminating information to volunteers across the organisation as directed by the Apprenticeship and Career Engagement Manager
  • To maintain up to date databases relevant to the volunteering service.
  • Support the recruitment of volunteers into CityCare. Interview new volunteers and coordinate appropriate placements.
  • Manage the volunteer email inbox providing information on volunteer opportunities across the organisation.
  • Represent CityCare at local forums and networking events for volunteering to promote the organisation and opportunities on offer.
