An exciting opportunity has arisen at Nottingham CityCare Partnership as we transform our senior leadership team therefore we are looking to recruit a new Assistant Clinical Director.

You will work alongside the Care Group Deputy Director and Assistant Operations Director in a triumvirate, being accountable for the operational leadership and management of the services within the Care Group.

As the Director of Operations I am looking for an Assistant Director who can show that they lead in the right way and can evidence what they deliver. Working as senior leadership team we will drive improvements across our services making a difference for both our patients and staff.

Main duties of the job

  • In partnership with the Deputy Director and Assistant Operations Director, responsible for the management of clinical and related services within the Care Group, to ensure the provision of efficient, high quality services
  • Working as a triumvirate ensure delivery of the relevant objectives within our Organisations strategy to meet the needs of our patients and staff whilst responding to the evolving requirements of system partners.
  • To provide excellent leadership to the Care Group and management guidance to develop a positive working environment and open culture that fosters high morale and commitment amongst all staff and promotes their wellbeing, professional and personal development
  • To lead on and be responsible and accountable for ensuring the delivery of a high quality, patient-centred service that meets the needs of the patient with an effective and efficient skill mix of staff
  • Engender a culture of quality improvement, striving for excellence in clinical practice and supporting services who may fall below an acceptable threshold
  • Lead the professional development of clinicians within the Care Group progressing the organisations strategy for clinical care

The post holder will define the professional models to be used within the Care Group and provide a service based on best practice, that provides the very best care to our patients.

To provide professional advice, leadership and professional challenge to the Senior Management Team and act as a key link with commissioners with regards to the quality of services provided across the organisation

To lead the delivery of quality outcomes securing improvements such as CQUIN, CQC preparedness, quality schedule targets ensuring full engagement within clinical teams.

To support the planning, organisation and delivery of clinical training events relating to the quality agenda, to clinical colleagues within the portfolio and the wider organisation

Dimensions

The Care Group Assistant Clinical Director is a key member of the senior management team in the portfolio, supporting the Heads of Service and Team Managers to undertake responsibility for the standards of care delivered by the workforce. This will include safer staffing, professional standards, developing systems and monitoring dashboards to drive improvement, and contribute to the development of the strategic direction of clinical services.

Primarily the post holder will take overall responsibility and accountability for the standards of care delivered by the clinical workforce. They will do so by providing professional leadership and guidance, inspiring clinical leads, managers, clinical governance, and physical health leads; to build a cohesive, mutually supportive team across the Care Group.

They will model high professional standards and lead by example, lead and promote a culture of learning, where learning is shared across the services and the wider organisation. Successes will be celebrated, and an environment created in which excellence in clinical care will flourish in relation to the key dimensions of health care quality:

  • Patient safety
  • The effectiveness of all health care interventions

Key Responsibilities

  • To work with the Care Group Deputy Director and Assistant Operations Director in the delivery of the corporate and portfolio objectives of promoting excellence and quality improvement in all areas of professional practice
  • To provide excellent leadership to the Care Group and management guidance to develop a positive working environment and open culture that fosters high morale and commitment amongst all staff and promotes their wellbeing, professional and personal development
  • Engender a culture of quality improvement, striving for excellence in clinical practice and supporting services who may fall below an acceptable threshold
  • Responsible for ensuring performance, finance and people targets are achieved, with regularly reviewed recovery action plans in place where required
  • To lead, manage and support staff through service change
  • Lead and chair steering groups/meetings ensuring RAID logs and updates are available on progress against plans.
  • Attendance at the monthly Accountability and Performance Framework meetings to provide assurance to the Executive Directors on performance and risk for each of the services in the Care Group in delivering the targets, plans and objectives. Where performance is deteriorating, support and remedial actions will be agreed to address the issues and ensure the delivery of safe and effective patient care
  • To lead the professional development of clinicians within the Care Group progressing the organisations strategy for clinical care
  • To lead on the robust support and clinical development of newly qualified staff who join CityCare, to ensure they are competent and confident to undertake their role.
  • Ensure operational systems are in place to support preceptorship, apprentices and students in practice
  • To lead on and be responsible and accountable for ensuring the delivery of a high quality, patient-centred service that meets the needs of the patient with an effective and efficient skill mix of staff
