Job summary

We are seeking dynamic and innovative Registered Nurses or Midwives to undertake the Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) Post Graduate Diploma (PGDip) leading to a qualification and NMC registration as a SCPHN Health Visitor. We welcome both internal and external applications from Nurses and Midwives who are passionate about pursuing a career working as a Specialist Practitioner in 0-19 childrens services.

SALARY: Band 5 mid-point £30,639

HOURS: Full time

BASE: Students will be allocated one base within Nottingham City

CONTRACT: Training contract fixed term for 1 year commencing September 2024. Internal candidates will be seconded from their current post for 1 year. (Please note positions for this job are subject to funding).

Main duties of the job

    • The successful applicants will undertake a 1-year Diploma (PGDip). Academic work is carried out at Derby University and your placement will be within the Nottingham CityCare Childrens Public Health 0-19 Nursing Service where you will be supported by qualified mentors.
    • SCPHN HV will also be taught how to caseload manage the upper tiers to be able to support the children and families you have the privilege of working with.
    • Nottingham CityCare expects to recruit SCPHN students to permanent posts on the successful completion of the course. Qualified SCPHN Health Visitors will be appointed to a Band 6 position.

            It is essential that applicants hold a full UK Driving License and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes throughout the course.

            • To gain a PGDip (Post Graduate Diploma) Specialist Community Public Health Nurse academic qualification.
