Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for
a highly skilled, enthusiastic and motivated Band 7 physiotherapist to join the
Nottingham CityCare
Partnership Continence Team for 1 day per week.
The aim of the service is to
improve the quality of life, promote confidence and independent self-management for people with continence and pelvic floor dysfunction. It is
expected that you will work closely with all members of the Continence Team providing
supervision, support and guidance.
The role includes helping with
the delivery of an efficient and effective service in line with local, national
and professional agendas. You will need highly specialised knowledge, skills
and experience in pelvic floor and continence assessment and high level
intervention skills in order to plan, develop and evaluate goal focused
intervention programmes.
You will need to demonstrate
high standards of evidence based clinical practice and develop network links to
disseminate clinical updates and recommendations to the team and other CityCare
services as required.
It is expected
that you will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and be
able to manage your time effectively by prioritising your workload and working
flexibly.
This is a substantive contract.
Main duties of the job
- The successful candidate will
work within the established continence service to undertake a weekly clinic to
manage a caseload of patients.
- They will also train, support
and supervise less experienced staff.
- To support the team to
implement and meet targets whilst developing the service to meet the needs of the
client population.

Job Purpose
To provide and maintain an advanced practice pelvic health physiotherapy service within the continence team.
To perform as an autonomous practitioner, undertaking a specific clinical caseload in the expert assessment and treatment of patients with pelvic floor dysfunction.
To practice advanced clinical reasoning skills to determine clinical diagnosis, prognosis and ongoing management.
To provide clinical leadership in education and training.
To communicate with key clinical stakeholders to ensure service needs are met.
Dimensions
- Managing an active caseload of pelvic floor dysfunction patients in line with national and local guidance and pathways.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical
- To be professionally responsible for the management of the designated caseload of patients referred for pelvic health physiotherapy within the continence service.
- To ensure a high standard of specialist pelvic health physiotherapy clinical care for the patients under your management.
- To formulate individualised, evidence based, management plans, using advanced clinical reasoning and evidence based practice.
- To organise own time effectively with regard to clinical priorities.
- To lead on training and supervision of less experienced staff, support staff, continence link clinicians and students.
- To have the ability to gain valid informed consent and to identify through assessment patients who lack capacity and work within a legal framework with patients who lack the capacity to consent to treatment.
- To work as a lone practitioner with supervision from the team manager and professional lead.
- To provide spontaneous and planned advice, teaching and instruction to patients, carers and other professionals to promote understanding of continence treatment and management, and to ensure a consistent approach to patient care.

- To evaluate own work and current practice through the use of evidence based practice, audit and outcome measures. Make recommendations to changes in clinical practice, assisting the implementation of these changes.
