Domestic Support Worker

The Domestic support worker will be expected to work as part of a domestic team in achieving and maintaining high infection control standards in all inpatient facilities. These results are instrumental to the role and contribute to CQC standards.

The Band 2 Domestic support Worker will ensure daily communication between the team is recorded, cleaning cupboards kept clean and well maintained and any minor problems dealt with in a timely manner.

Domestic Support Workers be responsible for ensuring sites are of hospital standard, recording and reporting issues to the Domestic team Supervisor.

There may be occasions when it is necessary to assist in the smooth operation of the laundry function (training will be required for this) this includes the laundering and ironing of all non-personal items associated with the inpatient facilities, and other items requested.

It is essential that the post holder is flexible in both hours and travel as there will be occasions when you will be required to work on different sites for the needs of the business, including Navigo House and Gardiner Hill caravan.

Under the guidance of the Domestic team supervisor you will be responsible for ensuring Health and Safety at Work Act and COSHH regulations and meets the standard of cleaning set with in Navigo.

Play a significant role in Tukes members support programme ensuring they are adequately supported and are in receipt of the correct level training to meet their individual development needs.

Ensure all equipment and products are being used in a safe manner in accordance with the correct procedures and manufacturers instructions, reporting any defective items to the Domestic team Supervisor.

Scope and Range

Have an enthusiastic and hardworking approach to domestic cleaning and enjoy working within a friendly team environment.

Deal with any minor issues from the staff or housekeeper which may be necessary to always ensure an excellent standard of service.

Take responsibility for the daily tasks and procedures are undertaken in a professional manner whilst safeguarding members which may be working within the team.

Take responsibility for any health and Safety concerns, noting any unsafe working practices and reporting faulty or damaged equipment to the Domestic team Supervisor within the service areas and any surrounding areas.

Must be willing to work alternate weekends and travel to a variety of sites within the organisation when required.

Assist OFD Tukes Support Officer in building confidence and work-based training of members, always ensuring good practice.

Have a good attitude and enjoys being part of a team but can work autonomously if required to ensure great service and good communication is maintained for continuity of service across all our managed sites in a very diverse working environment.

In addition to the above duties, provide assistance with additional activities as required, as commensurate with grade.

Undertake mandatory training in all statutory aspects to ensure Navigo's compliance.

Undertake any other training that may be required to enhance the post holders ability to undertake the role.

Fire Procedure:

The post holder must adhere to Navigo's Fire Policy, including training attendance as and when required.

Experience

Essential

• Domestic Experience
• Working Knowledge Ordering and Stock Control

Desirable

• Working within a hospital/mental health environment
• Team Leading qualification or equivalent experience
• Working knowledge of healthcare facilities

Qualifications

• General education
• General IT experience

Desirable

• First Aid trained or willing to work towards if required by area of service
• Manual Handling
• Respect trained or willing to work towards
• COSHH Knowledge
