Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join our NHS North East Lincolnshire Talking Therapies Service for Anxiety and Depression.

NHS Talking Therapies North East Lincolnshire service is for people with common mental health problems registered to a GP within North East Lincolnshire. The service became operational in February 2008 and since 2009 NHS Talking Therapies (previously known as Open Minds). We are looking for an enthusiastic, skilled and dedicated High Intensity Therapist. We have one permanent 37.5 hour post available. The successful applicant will work between office base, community locations and option of some remote working. The role offers variety and comes with the opportunity to do further top up training, and specialise in an area of interest e.g. autism, perinatal or older people. THIS IS NOT A FULLY REMOTE POST.

You must have a Post-graduate diploma in High Intensity Psychological Interventions and be an accredited member of the BABCP to be shortlisted for interview.

Main duties of the job

To provide evidence based CBT interventions adhering to NICE guidelines to clients that present with depression and anxiety disorders.

To assess clients for suitability for talking therapies. Screen new referrals from internal and external sources, refer/signpost unsuitable clients to the correct services.

To work as part of a team to meet national targets, including minimising waiting times and accessibility. Provide clinical supervision to other members of the team.

To attend regular clinical and managerial supervision and MDT's where appropriate.

To work independently according to an agreed plan and within the framework of Navigo's policies and procedures.

To be adaptable to service need as required

To facilitate and support service user groups

CLINICAL

Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service (including protocols for managing self referrals).

Assess clients for suitability for CBT or other Talking Therapy.

Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the departments referral protocols, and refer unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary.

Formulate, implement and evaluate therapy programmes for clients.

Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary, conveying CBT formulations with sensitivity in easily understood language.

Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the number of client contacts offered, and clinical sessions carried out per week in order to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient.

Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment, where appropriate.

Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service.

Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols

Work closely with other members of the team ensuring appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements are in place to maintain a stepped care approach.

Assess and integrate issues surrounding work and employment into the overall therapy process

Carry out clinical audits of service performance, including service user surveys and evaluations, and help to collate and disseminate the results for feedback.

TRAINING AND SUPERVISION

Attend and fulfil all the requirements of the NHS Talking Therapies approved supervision training.

Supervise staff in the service.

PROFESSIONAL

Ensure the maintenance of standards of practice according to the employer and any regulating, professional and accrediting bodies (eg BPS, UKCP, BABCP), and keep up to date on new recommendations/guidelines set by the department of health (e.g NHS plan, National Service Framework, National Institute for Clinical Excellence).

Ensure that client confidentiality is protected at all times.

Be aware of, and keep up to date with advances in the spheres of CBT and other agreed psychological therapies.

Ensure clear professional objectives are identified, discussed and reviewed with senior therapists on a regular basis as part of continuing professional development.

Attend clinical/managerial supervision on a regular basis as agreed with Manager.

Participate in individual performance review and respond to agreed objectives.

Keep up to date all records in relation to C.P.D. and ensure personal development plan maintains up to date specialist knowledge of latest theoretical and service delivery models/developments.

ADVISORY / LIAISON

Provide an advisory service on matters related to the practice and delivery of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or other therapy to individuals/groups/committees across the Mental Health Trust, Primary Care Trust and other voluntary agencies.

Promote and maintain links with Primary Care and Secondary Care Staff to help co-ordinate the provision of an effective Psychological Therapies Service.

To contribute to the development of best practice within the service.

To maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and procedures in relation to Mental Health and Primary Care Services.
