opportunity has arisen to support the expansion of Navigo's Patient Safety Team.
The team oversee the implementation of patient safety governance processes
across all services, including incident management, mortality surveillance,
patient safety investigations and Coronial processes. The team work with
services to identify learning from patient safety incidents and provide
assurance of improvements both internally and externally.
The successful candidate will support the team to promote a patient
safety culture across the organisation in line with Patent Safety Incident
Response Framework (PSIRF) principles. The post holder will undertake a wide
range of administrative duties in a role where no two days are the same. The
successful candidate will be highly organised, flexible, dynamic and able to
adhere to total confidentiality at all times.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work within the Patient Safety
Team which includes the Head of Operational Quality and Governance, the Patient
Safety Manager, and the Incident Lead. Main duties will include arranging and
minuting meetings; drafting letters; updating records; preparing information
for reports; monitoring the central email account and bringing emails to the
attention of the appropriate people in a timely manner. The successful
candidate will be highly organised, resilient, methodical, and able to
maintain confidentiality at all times. They must be highly professional and
able to maintain a pleasant approach whilst understanding the serious nature of
this role.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will support the implementation of
patient safety across Navigo services by:
Administratively supporting Navigo's patient safety
incident investigation process including family-carer and staff liaison to
support the Patient Safety Team as required.
Ensuring that accurate data checking procedures are
followed within the incident management system and communicate with all levels
of staff following any queries/concerns with the incident management process,
escalating any concerns to senior colleagues.
Being responsible for extracting and manipulating
information from the incident management system in order to support the Patient
Safety Team in the delivery of basic reports.
Under direction from the Patient Safety Team, maintaining
governance systems and databases with a high degree of accuracy. This includes
information regarding incidents, investigations, actions and Coronial
processes.
Due to a high volume of patient/staff identifiable
information, the post holder will maintain confidentiality at all times.
Demonstrating effective communication to staff, patients,
families and carers.
Ensuring timely uploading of incidents to the Learning from
Patient Safety Events/National Reporting Learning System.
Arranging and administrating regular meetings, including
agenda setting, distribution of papers and taking minutes.
Monitoring the central Patient Safety email account and
responding appropriately using own initiative and escalating as necessary.
Responding to all queries, correspondence and telephone
calls in a timely and professional manner. Initiating action where possible and
consulting senior colleagues as appropriate.
Using their knowledge and expertise to support others
within the team.
Working independently within agreed processes and standard
operating procedures and make decisions on the necessity of escalation to
senior colleagues.
Assisting in the preparation of data and information for
monthly/quarterly/annual reports and projects.
Contributing to the promotion of patient safety across the
organisation and support at good practice events as required, e.g. the Annual
General Meeting (AGM).
Completing any other duties within the Patient Safety
Team of the role appropriate to the grade as requested by senior colleagues.
