Job summary

Mental Health Crisis Practitioner Band 5 to 6 Development Programme.

Have you been working in mental health acute care but have not had the opportunities that you need to improve your practice?

Navigo Access team is excited to introduce to you our crisis practitioner development programme which will improve your assessment and therapy skills so that you can consistently make a positive impact to our service users lives and their experience of mental health crisis care.

We offer a structured development plan, moving you from novice to expert in crisis work. We have partnered with award winning training services to provide the academic element of our programme, and will provide you the opportunity to work alongside experienced crisis practitioners to practice the skills learnt in the classroom.

You will be trained in crisis assessment, formulation, solution-focussed therapy, motivational interviewing, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, suicide risk assessment and management.

Main duties of the job

You will attend all taught sessions and implement the skills learnt in your daily work in the Access services. You will work alongside your allocated mentor and under supervision will complete mental health assessments and crisis interventions. Following each assessment you will complete structured reflective practice supervision until such a time that you are signed off as competent in both assessment and crisis interventions. You will need to achieve competency to implement our specialised suicide risk assessment CAMS (Collaborative Assessment & Management of Suicide).

You will work within a 24-hour rota across the Access services, including our walk-in mental health crisis service, hospital liaison service and our Single Point of Access (SPA) service. Once competent you will be responsible for initial assessment, implementation, planning, and evaluation of care for those presenting in a mental health crisis.

About us

Hello!

We are Navigo. We look after North East Lincolnshire's mental health and well-being. We are an award-winning social enterprise that provides mental health services to the NHS and beyond.

The whole basis of our work is to deliver services that we would be happy for our own family to use.

We offer a range of mental health services, including acute and community facilities as well as specialist support such as outstanding older adults inpatient services, rehabilitation and recovery community mental health and an outstanding specialist eating disorder facility.

Ranked as one of the top UK companies to work for, we featured in the Best Companies top 100 large company list and were named sixth best health and social care company 2023.

As a social enterprise, we do things a little bit differently and have also developed income-generating commercially viable businesses that provide training, education and employment opportunities including Grimsby Garden Centre and two cafes.

Working at Navigo is not like working anywhere else. Lots of places say that, but we really mean it.

We like to work with forward-thinking people who want to make a difference.

Come join us!
