Job summary

This is an exciting new role developed for a band 5 qualified professional (Nurse/OT/Social Worker) to support the ongoing pressures within NHS North East Lincs Talking Therapies Service (Previously Open Minds). We have a growing waiting list of service users waiting to access psychological therapy and a growing triage process ensuring service users are directed to the right place for the right treatment the first time. We are looking for an enthusiastic, engaging individual who has an interest in psychological therapy, experience in mental health and experience in working with individuals who are experiencing poor mental health. An understanding of Navigo structure and services is desirable but not essential as support and training will be given. Organisation skills will be crucial to this role. Potential development opportunities are available at the end of this term, including progression to complete the high intensity CBT therapy training which once qualified achieves a Band 7.

Main duties of the job

To support the work of staff in NHSTT, including supporting face to face and online psychological assessment and interventions (including workshops, groups and webinars) under the supervision of the clinical team. To assist in audit and data collection and the development of research projects, and to promote the service at local events, both in and out of hours. To support with the management of waiting lists made up of service users who are awaiting psychological therapy including assessment of risk and current needs, referring on as appropriate. This may include telephone contact every four weeks for service users awaiting therapy and following up on DNA appointments. The post holder will lead on triaging referrals into the service ensuring people are accessing the correct service at the point of referral. Knowledge of other services in North East Lincs is essential.

Communication

The post holder will be required to communicate with a range of people, including communication about sensitive and difficult matters, with people who may be experiencing high levels of distress. Therefore, effective communication using a range of skills in relationship building and overcoming barriers to communication, whilst adhering to Navigo policies and procedures is essential for the role.

To contribute to the training and support of other staff in primary care services.

Participate in Individual Performance Review and respond to agreed objectives.

Clinical

The post holder will assertively follow up on service users who have been referred or self-referred for treatment when contact attempts for initial assessment via usual pathways have been unsuccessful. The post holder will update records to indicate additional steps taken to attempt contact. The post holder will assertively follow up on reported DNAs where risk is identified by practitioners and escalate appropriately.

To ensure that all processes are effective and high standards are maintained.

Have a working knowledge of Navigo policies and procedures.

To participate in and keep up to date with Navigo mandatory training requirements.

Ability to organise own diary and appointments to meet the needs of the service
