Eating Disorder Support Worker

Navigo Health and Social Care CIC

The closing date is 01 May 2024

Job summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who can work alongside colleagues, build a rapport with young people and families and support delivery of planned interventions.

This post is an exciting enhancement of the existing multi-disciplinary community CAMHS Service with a specific focus on eating disorders and alternatives to admission. The team will work closely alongside existing teams and the successful candidate will have the chance to be a part of the development of this innovative specialist pathway of care for Children and Young People in North East Lincolnshire.

When required the team will provide a package of enhanced mealtime support and intensive work with young people and families, usually within their own home with the aim being to prevent hospital admissions.

Alternatively, if admission is deemed clinically necessary, home leave and discharge may be facilitated sooner by the offer of a more intensive level of support by the team.

Main duties of the job

The main elements of the clinical work will include supporting young people and families during mealtimes in a variety of settings, but mainly in the family home, using an evidence-based model and care pathway, completing physical health checks and supporting the MDT to deliver an intensive package of support to children/young people and their families when required.

The post holder will also support the co-facilitation of parent support groups, training and assessments alongside senior members of staff.

The service will be provided Monday to Friday 9am 5pm, however due the nature of the service and the need to support young people and families at mealtimes there is the requirement, to be able to work flexibly in line with service need. The service covers North East Lincolnshire and requires close liaison with local paediatric ward and inpatient units, so the ability to commute within this area is essential.
