Would you like to work as a
Housekeeper at our eating disorder unit, Rharian Fields? You will be part of a
small and friendly multiteam of housekeepers, estates and domestic staff working
together to ensure the inpatient areas are maintained to a high level of
standard which contributes to a safe, pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. A link
role to support Nursing Assistants, and facilities teams, this a role for someone looking for a diverse and
rewarding role who wants to make a difference.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for
making sure that the ward environment is clean, tidy and welcoming for our
Service Users and visitors, in conjunction with the ward teams and domestic
supervisors through a number of methods
Participating and supporting
IC and cleaning audits
Ordering consumables and other
supplies, ensure correctly stored, and assisting nursing staff in cleaning
medical equipment
You will be the 'eyes and
ears' of the site and bring any concerns to the relevant leads with particular attention
being paid to any noncompliance of Health and Safety and Well Being.
Reporting any medical and/or
electrical equipment that needs repairing and requires PAT testing, and keeping
up to date records of reports, defects and follow up action appropriately and
regular attendance at meetings.
Excellent communication and
organisational skills are essential to the success of this unique role.

Job responsibilities
The Housekeeper is responsible for the day to day running and coordination of the inpatient areas, ensuring they are clean and tidy, that food is delivered correctly, that repairs, maintenance are proactively reported and acted on, linen services and consumables are available, that health and safety is maintained, this includes the following:
Liaising with the Domestic supervisors on sites will take place on a regular basis, to ensure the service meets CQC standards and that any concerns are addressed and dealt with efficiently and quickly to support our highest standard of infection control on site, to contribute to a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere.
- The postholder will lead in prevention and control of infection and assess/observe to ensure that all the inpatient staff follow consistently high standards in the prevention and control of infection, especially with reference to hand hygiene and ensuring that appropriate uniforms and protective clothing is worn at all times to maintain safety and hygiene conditions for both Staff and service users.
Responsible for ensuring equipment is always maintained to a safe and clean standard, reporting any problems to the relevant person/persons immediately.
Attends Infection Control meetings as ward representative.
Responsible for submitting order requests of consumables and other supplies, ensuring stocktaking, stock rotation and its safe storage.
Responsible for establishing, maintaining, and assisting, with a programme of curtain/mattress changing throughout the lodges, in line with Navigo policy.
Responsible for assisting nursing staff in cleaning medical equipment.
To attend all mandatory and non-mandatory training relevant to the post.
Responsible for ensuring the lodges comply with the Organisations Food Hygiene Policy, i.e., fridge temperature, and brings to the Clinical Leads attention any noncompliance.
Responsible for reporting and following up any instances of pest control
The Housekeepers will attend all Health and Safety Meetings, will ensure any improvements or recommendations are actioned on site and will share any relevant information with the unit staff and unit managers. The Housekeeper will liaise with the Health and Safety rep for Navigo.
- The Housekeeper will facilitate the weekly fire alarm checks in conjunction with the Estates Operative and raise any resulting concerns with the unit managers.
- Responsible for ensuring the BM machine is regularly quality assured in conjunction with the Estates operative and liaising with the nursing staff.
- Responsible for liaising with the Estates team to ensure the units and gardens are safe and well maintained, and all items/rooms are functioning well.
Responsible for reporting any medical and/or electrical equipment that needs repairing and requires PAT testing, and keeping up to date records of reports, defects and follow up action appropriately.
Assist the Facilities Domestic Lead in the recruitment and selection process of future employees in accordance with all relevant policies.
The post holder will supervise and support Tukes Members and people with mental health problems who will be on work placements within the Tukes project.
- Liaise with the wider Tukes teams to ensure service users can become actively involved within the Tukes acute onsite functions to support meaningful occupation of time therapy
