The role of the Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP)
is identified as a clinical expert and is required to have a high clinical
profile ensuring the provision of effective and efficient care. At this level
the post holder is expected to work as a highly skilled senior practitioner and
to have expert knowledge with ability to deliver autonomous and competent
practice in all four domains of the ACP framework.
Main duties of the job
We recognise within Navigo that staff development needs to be a supported journey of learning and
achievement, therefore, as part of the national re-design of mental health
services we have committed to developing our ACP network with individuals who
demonstrate the required level of commitment and passion, along with
demonstrable experience, and academic potential to becoming a future Advanced
Clinical Practitioner at 8a level, following completion of an MSc in Advanced
Practice and the developmental competency pathway that will support the right
candidate to attend university and develop their expertise in the four pillars
of advanced clinical practice.
We require a
Qualified ACP for our new Dual Diagnosis Service, and trainee ACP's for our
Access Team (which covers liaison psychiatry, crisis and single point of
access) and Community Team.

common benchmark for application onto the Advanced Practice MSc apprentice
programme is to have a level six degree at second class or above / can demonstrate

level six (or above) degree, a professional qualification with a registered
body that will permit entry onto the Non-Medical Prescribers module (mandatory)
and evidence of academic study or be able to demonstrate equivalent

the form of a developmental pathway from band 6 to band 7 and to band 8a will
be considered in line with applications and the successful candidate will be
offered a starting point dependent upon their skills, experience and
qualifications with clear guidance on the steps and achievements to progress to
a fully qualified and practicing Advanced Clinical Practitioner at 8a level.

is important to note that as services are progressing through the phases of
transformation the roles and responsivities of the Advanced Clinical

and organic illness, adults, and older adults, with support into areas of less
