Job summary

In order to cover Maternity Leave, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Support Worker within our Early Interventions in Psychosis (EIP) for a Fixed Term Contract. We provide a service to people of North East Lincolnshire between the ages of 14 and 35 who may have developed a First Episode of Psychosis (FEP) or be at risk of developing psychosis, At Risk Mental State (ARMS). This is an amazing time to be joining us as we are expanding the team with a view to eventually increase the age range. The team consists of experienced staff with a diverse mixture of skills and knowledge which the applicant can gain experience from. We are based in the community and link in with volunartary and other professional services.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a highly motivated and compassionate team member to support people experiencing psychosis in the community setting. The post holder will be expected to focus on the service users social, emotional, practical and vocational needs in line with the principles of engagement, social inclusion and recovery. The role will include working with individuals on their recovery journey and enabling them to maintain their health and wellbeing through programmes such as outdoor activities, physical health promotion, group work, seeking opportunities in education, employment, and meaningful activities. The post holder will be an integral part of the team and be expected to join weekly team meetings and engage with the supervision process. Can demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal. Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team. Ability to manage stressful situations.

Job responsibilities

To build trusting and collaborative relationships with service users aged 14-35 referred into the Early Intervention in Psychosis team

To provide support to service users adhering to professional boundaries

To help people identify their own Recovery goals

To support service users to identify and overcome fears within a relationship of empathy and trust

To liaise with carers, other health professionals, statutory and voluntary agencies to enable the Recovery needs of the service user group to be met

To follow the principles and values of Recovery.

To co-facilitate Group work and individual support in the community as required

To promote inspire hope and the belief that recovery is possible for those who are using our service.

To undertake appropriate administrative duties to assist the team in delivering effective and timely care, e.g. data inputting, safeguarding, filing, computer work, photo-copying, updating patient records.

To work in collaboration with other organisations and colleagues involved in the delivery of care.

To actively participate in Team Meetings and report regularly to the Line Manager to ensure effective communication.

To sign-post to various resources, opportunities and activities within Navigo and in communities to promote choice and informed decision making.

To ensure that services are tailored to individuals cultural and social needs..

To keep up to date with mandatory training and enage in supervision

  • Certificate in Health and Social Care or Community Mental Health, or a willingness to undertake this, or an equivalent level of experience.

Desirable

  • A basic knowledge and understanding of the Mental Health Act
  • Basic food Hygiene certificate
  • First Aid training

  • An interest in and commitment to helping people with mental health issues

Desirable

  • Experience of working with people with Mental Health problems
