Main duties of the job

As our Business Intelligence Lead, you will play a pivotal role in providing the information to drive the strategic direction and performance of NAViGO Health and Social Care. Leading a small team of skilled analysts within our Quality and Performance Team, you will be responsible for generating valuable insights and analytics through expert information analysis.

You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, present findings to support decision-making, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our Integrated Performance Report.

We are looking for a candidate who possesses excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex information effectively. You should be self-motivated, proactive, and capable of coaching and mentoring a small team.

Job responsibilities

MAIN DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides the lead on analytical support to NAViGO. Develops and delivers customised management reports/information packs using expert analytical skill to encompass data from the Mental Health service.

Produces a quarterly Integrated Performance Report with triangulated analysis from other service areas to provide a clear update to CiC Board on the pressures and improvements within NAViGO.

Understands the business needs to look beyond the initial requirements, challenging any assumptions and delivering clear and factual insight.

Ensures that data quality is maintained to a high standard and leads on the actions in any data quality improvement plans.

Continually monitors and develops the Quarterly Integrated Performance Report to ensure it includes new contractual key performance indicators and locally decided, pertinent indicators for service development.

Able to analyse the causes for a range of complex problems and utilise analytical techniques to solve them including developing new processes that have not previously been attempted.

Makes recommendations on specific contracts including proposing, developing and introducing new components to monitor these contracts.

Responsible for the preparation of all national datasets and statutory statistical returns and ensures they are signed off by an appropriate clinical lead and submitted before the deadlines.

Recommends and develops high quality analytical solutions across all NAViGO service area including the use of artificial intelligence and predictive modelling in line with the organisations workplan.

Works together with the Systems Team to ensure the implementation, on-going development and maintenance of NAViGO information systems used by the Mental Health Service and meets the information needs of NAViGO. These information systems should also be developed to ensure NAViGO adheres to its contract and delivers on all of the mandatory data collections and key performance indicators set by the care quality commission, the department of health and other regulatory bodies.

Interprets, presents and benchmarks national and local data for Service Leads in order to support the strategic function.

Signs off any ad-hoc reporting and ensures it is fit for purpose and making recommendations, where required.

Ensures that all relevant data is received and input onto the information systems to enable NAViGOs reporting timetables to be met. This would involve manipulating large datasets and creating complex spread sheets and relational databases as well as analysing and resolving complex queries and discrepancies.

Communicates analytical/statistical matters to non-analytical/statistical professionals, advises, encourages on statistical techniques to be used for decision making.

Able to explain complex and technical information governance issues to non-information staff.

Develop strong working relationships with service leads and operational staff to understand the evolving information requirements of NAViGO.

Attends Quality and Learning network meetings with clinical services each month and provides feedback on performance.

Provide analytical support and attendance to NAViGOs working groups.

Attends contract meetings and other external meetings, as required to talk through data processes, analysis and to answer questions.

Deputises at meetings for Head of Performance and Information and the wider analyst sub team.

Works with the Head of Performance and Information to develop what data is needed for projects, business cases and quality improvement plans.

Ensure regularly reporting on progress, monitoring progress against plan, delivery of the project purpose, and post project review to the appropriate forum (project or quality improvement plan lead).

Work in conjunction with the Data Warehouse Developers to ensure the data warehouse and dashboards incorporate any new reporting requirements.

Negotiates priorities in terms of key performance indicators with clinical staff to ensure strategic objectives and contract requirements are met.

Oversees the reporting and data requests in the joint Performance Team inbox to ensure that the requests are prioritised accordingly and delivered within a timely manner.

Responsible for ensuring that data capture systems meet the requirements for data submission as specified in Data Set Change Notices.

Ensures that policies and procedures are in place for routine and regular analytical work.

Provides supervision and professional development reviews to Senior Analysts

Responsible for the recruitment of Analysts and Senior Analysts.

Ensures that new recruits are fully inducted into the team.

Provide support, mentoring and/or training to other members of the Performance team as required, around own areas of work.

Authorises staff leave/training and office equipment for the Analyst team.

Coordinates regular analyst meetings to ensure work is distributed evenly and workplan priorities are kept on track.
