We have an exciting opportunity for a Rotational
Pharmacy Technician to cover maternity leave in our Pharmacy team. The role focuses
on medicines reconciliation, stock management and providing medication
information and support to our nursing and medical staff, as well as to our
service users and carers. Our aim is to support the best treatment outcomes, by
working as a part of the multidisciplinary teams across the organisation. We
are looking for a highly motivated, GPhC registered Pharmacy Technician to join
our team as a maternity cover. Experience of working within a hospital pharmacy
department as a qualified technician or as a student technician is desirable,
although applications from qualified pharmacy technicians working within the
community sector are welcome.
Main duties of the job
Undertake a range of pharmaceutical activities in relation to the ordering,
procurement and supply of medicines and provide a point of contact for resolution
of stock discrepancies, and urgent/emergency orders
Facilitate
provision of pharmaceutical care including ordering, transport, preparation,
administration, storage, and disposal of medicines
Ensure
effective medicine stock control and storage on the unit
Provide
advice to the unit and team on safe, secure, and appropriate storage of
medicines in line with the Safe and Secure Handling of Medicines Procedures
Ensure
pharmaceutical waste is handled safely and appropriately. Assisting with or
arranging destruction, storage, and collection
Provide
technical information to prescribers and advise drug doses, forms, and use
Assess and
cascade any pharmaceutical alerts and recalls
Manage
emergency boxes
Carry out
pharmacy audits including controlled drug audits, clinic room audits and
temperature audits
