Job summary

NAViGO's Performance and Assurance team is growing! This is an exciting opportunity for a permanent band 5 Performance Analyst to come and join our team of analysts.

Have you previously worked in a role dealing with data processing, information and/or Performance? Are you good at problem solving? Are you passionate about making a difference to service user care using insightful analytics? The ideal candidate will have technical skills such as SQL and can utilise Microsoft Excel to an advanced level.

We have adopted a hybrid working model allowing our team to work remotely and to work from the office with a base at NAViGO House in Grimsby.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will have a key role in ensuring that the key performance indicators and data requirements within all of NAViGOs contracts are met and statutory and mandatory returns are submitted by national deadlines.

The postholder will be required to support on all matters relating to Information Analysis to inform service development to facilitate NAViGO meeting its strategic objectives.

The postholder is required to interpret, analyse and present high quality reports for NAViGO and wider community to support operational and strategic decision making. This will include overseeing the maintenance of data collection systems, ensuring that information is processed in accordance with national / local policies, procedures and best practice.

Job responsibilities

Analytical

Create and run reports in Microsoft SQL server.

Manipulation of large datasets and creating complex spread sheets and relational databases as well as analysing and resolving complex queries and discrepancies.

Analyses situations to identify and resolve problems relating to the Mental Health clinical system and the Incident and Accident Reporting System

Provides analytical support to NAViGO by developing and delivering customised ad-hoc management reports/information packs encompassing data from the Mental Health service. This will include regular reporting to the various NAViGO committees and other relevant groups, for example the Quality and Learning Networks

Supports in the implementation, on-going development and maintenance of NAViGO information systems used by the Mental Health Service to ensure they meet the information needs of NAViGO. These information systems should also be developed to ensure NAViGO adheres to its contract and delivers on all the mandatory data collections and key performance indicators set by the care quality commission, the department of health and other regulatory bodies.

Interprets, presents and benchmarks national and local data for clinical leads to support the strategic function

Scrutinises NAViGO performance on NHS Digital performance and data quality dashboards, investigating any discrepancies between local data and national submissions and make amendments to the national reporting process, as necessary

Investigates national dataset post deadline files to improve data quality.

Ensures the Data Quality Maturity Index is kept to a high level

Maintains a detailed knowledge of NHS data definitions, standards and guidance on healthcare information to ensure that systems are implemented and maintained.

Abstracts and analyses patient clinical records and use judgement to translate information which may not be readily codable.

Ensures that all relevant data are received and uploaded to national submission platforms to enable NAViGOs reporting timetables to be met.

Works with the Senior Performance analyst to plan and implement new national dataset changes

The post holder will work within organisational and professional policies and procedures; operates on own initiative, taking advice from manager if required.

HR and Training

Provide support and training to other members of the Performance team as required, around own areas of work.

Provides basic guidance on the mental health clinical system and incident and Accident Reporting System.

Identifies any training needs around the Mental Health Clinical System and the Incident and Accident Reporting System and works with the System Trainer to resolve them.

Continues professional development to ensure they are kept up to date with new ways of working within their expertise.

Utilises online community groups relevant to profession (i.e. NHS Future Collaborations) for support and new developments.

Completes the Mental Health clinical coding course and refreshers as necessary.

  • IT Qualification
