Day Services promotes, supports and improves the mental, physical and emotional well-being of vulnerable people so that they can participate in their communities, with their families and enjoy the best life possible. The aim of the service is to support vulnerable people to remain living in their own homes. An effective Day Service should aim to ensure that this group can participate in and help steer the services required, taking into account their specific needs. The service enables service users to make informed decisions and to facilitate access to services across the health, social and voluntary sectors.

Main duties of the job

Job title: Apprentice Support Worker

Department: Day Services

Base: Cromwell Resource Centre

Hours: 22.5 per week

24 Months Fixed Term

Salary Range: From £6.40 to £11.44 National Minimum wage, dependent on age.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed member of staff to work within our established Day Services. Providing a range of activities and opportunities within local community supporting adults with learning/physical disabilities to enjoy meaningful and purposeful lives on their choice. The service is dependent on having a robust multi-skilled team responsible for ensuring we get the best possible outcomes by working in partnership with service users; carers; families and our health colleagues.

Experience of delivering support to individuals on a paid, personal or voluntary basis

An innovative approach to working within a team

A clear understanding of dignity and respect

A clear understanding person-centred support

A willingness to undertake further skills and training

The successful candidate will be expected to work towards an Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship Level 2.

Please note that applicants who already hold a QCF/Apprenticeship Level 2 in Health and Social Care will not be eligible to apply.
