The role of the band 5 public health nurse is to assist in the provision of child public health services within Medway. The public health nurse will work as part of the health visiting team to deliver the healthy child programme.

Applicants must have a first line degree to progress with the SCPHN training.

Main duties of the job

  • To work as a member of the health visiting team assisting in the provision of a comprehensive health visiting service to deliver the Healthy Child Programme to an identified population, promoting and preserving the health of individuals, families and communities.
  • To provide universal services to the client group served.
  • To undertake and respond to duty calls for the service and ensure good documentation.
  • To lead on public health initiatives as directed by Public Health Commissioners
  • To attend safeguarding meetings when involved in client care

  • First level registered nurse RN, RGN Post registration qualification in a relevant field, e.g. Health Promotion, Child Development. Possessing an up to date Personal Development Plan showing evidence of continuing professional development.
