We are looking to recruit an experienced physiotherapist into our orthopaedic clinical assessment service. This is a fixed term role due to maternity leave. Your role will involve provision of expert specialist assessment, treatment and advice for patients with musculoskeletal conditions. You will work in both local GP practices and healthy living centres as part of the orthopaedic CAS team. This role is key to the MSK pathway and you will be working alongside a large team of advanced practitioners.
You will preferably have up-to-date IRMER training, knowledge of indications for further tests and investigations and experience of injecting joints/non-medical prescribing. But don't worry if not as we are willing to support you with training.
Main duties of the job
- To work within a team of CAS advanced practitioners to deliver expert assessment of patients in Medway and Swale with orthopaedic conditions. To provide comprehensive treatment planning and expert advice using advanced knowledge and clinical reasoning to an exceptional standard for the patients who would normally be referred to an orthopaedic consultant.
- As an autonomous practitioner take a major role in the expert specialist assessment and treatment of patients with musculoskeletal conditions who may have acute, complex and/or chronic presentations.
- To provide expert clinical opinion within the multi professional team with in the orthopaedic clinical assessment service (CAS) to ensure that patients referred by their G.P.s are seen by the most appropriate clinician.
- Through the application of advanced clinical reasoning and differential diagnosis skills responsible for the formulation of accurate clinical diagnoses and physiotherapy treatment indicated advising the patient, carers/ relatives and other AHPs appropriately.

- Our multi-disciplinary CAS service offers an interface service between primary and secondary care. We work closely with the Medway physiotherapy department and the local secondary care providers.
- You will be supported by the clinical lead (GPwSI) and other experienced orthopaedic practitioners. Education, training and other CPD opportunities are provided.

- Part-time hours, although a minimum of 22.5 hours is necessary.
