Job summary

This role would be an exciting opportunity for anyone who has a keen interest in advanced wound care, leg ulcer care and teaching. The post holder will be:-

  • Teaching all aspect of tissue viability
  • Supporting the residential homes with Stop Boxes
  • Supporting Community Nurses with wound care and pressure area care.
  • Liaising with industry/ dressing trials
  • Supporting the Band 6 TVN

Main duties of the job

  • To carry out pressure ulcer risk assessments, wound assessments and lower limb assessments inclusive of Doppler's to create appropriate pathways of care for patients referred to the tissue viability team.
  • To provide advice on pressure relieving equipment prescriptions to ensure patient safety.
  • To manage a group of patients, delegated by the TVNs, on a daily basis consisting of complex needs associated with speciality
  • To undertake duties delegated by the Senior Tissue Viability Nurse
  • To assist the Senior TVN to lead, develop and monitor clinical standards of care and policies relating to the management of pressure ulcers, leg ulcers and other wounds.
  • To participate in training for trained staff and formal or informal carers in all aspects of tissue viability (eg Pressure ulcer prevention and management, lower limb assessment, compression therapy, wound healing).
  • To support student activity within the Tissue Viability Team to develop best practice in wound care.
