Please note - This is a fixed term position for 12 months working 22.5 hours per week.

The successful applicant will work as part of the physiotherapy team which is based at MCH House in Gillingham and provides opportunities for outreach clinic work across Medway and Swale. The service receives referrals from a variety of healthcare professionals.

We are looking for someone who has good communication skills, is a team member, demonstrates a flexible approach to a busy caseload and has good clinical reasoning skills. The successful candidate will be required to take on a small supervisory role of junior members of the team and students. The may also be expected to work flexible hours to help the team provide a highly accessible service and we do support four day weeks/nine day fortnights.

We are committed to continuous professional development, promoting evidence-based practice and the delivery of high quality patient care. The successful applicant will work with a number of senior and specialist clinicians, including extended scope practitioners within the orthopaedic clinical assessment service (CAS). They will also participate in regular in-service training and supervision sessions.

Main duties of the job

Under the direction and supervision of the band 7 physiotherapist to undertake a senior physiotherapy role including the planning, coordination, delivery and evaluation of the outpatient physiotherapy service based at MCH House, Gillingham. The post holder may be expected to work across Medway and Swale.

As an autonomous practitioner to take a major role in the advanced assessment and treatment of patients within the speciality who may have acute, complex and / or chronic presentation. To determine clinical diagnosis and physiotherapy treatment indicated.

To work with other senior staff to ensure that Clinical Governance targets are met including the development of clinical standards and protocols, audit, research, clinical and non-clinical risk management.

To manage, supervise and teach more junior physiotherapists, technical instructors, physiotherapy assistants, administrative staff and students.

Work alongside other senior staff to develop the physiotherapy outpatient service.

Hours of work may include Saturday.
