An exciting
opportunity has arisen to recruit an enthusiastic and committed Behaviour
Analyst to our service.With support
from a team of behaviour analysts and clinical psychologists, the successful
candidate will have the opportunity to further develop and shape
Neurodevelopmental Services for adults with a learning disability. There are
excellent opportunities to develop your own interests, opportunities for
involvement in high quality research, service audit and evaluation with our
research support team, as well as, group work, training and developing service
user engagement.
Main duties of the job
Applicants to
the post from people nearing qualification (BCBA) or having recently qualified will
be considered. Candidates meeting the Positive Behaviour Support Competence
Framework for Higher Level Behaviour Specialist will need to evidence their
educational and practice background.
The
post-holder will be involved in conducting assessment activities related to the
need for behavioural interventions and designing, implementing and monitoring
behaviour analysis programs for clients as well as overseeing the
implementation of behaviour analysis programs by others.

Essential
- Masters level training in behaviour analysis, including research methodology; staff training and service issues.
- Post graduate training and continued professional development in applied behavioural analysis.
Desirable
- To be a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst, eligible to sit the certification exam, or ability to evidence Positive Behaviour Support Competence Framework for Higher Level Behaviour Specialist.
Experience
Essential
- Experience of specialist behavioural assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including; outpatient, community, primary care and in-patient settings.
- Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
- Experience of teaching, training and supervision including large groups of staff on emotive subjects.
- Experience of the application of clinical work in different cultural contexts.
Desirable
- Working knowledge of the Microsoft 365 Suite, including Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Forms, Sway, and SharePoint.
Knowledge

- Skills in the use of complex methods of behavioural assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
- High level knowledge of the theory and practice of at least one specialised psychological therapy.
- Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and / or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
- Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
- Post graduate level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of behaviour analysis.
- Good working knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act.

- Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups (e.g. personality disorder, dual diagnosis, people with additional disabilities etc.)
- Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client groups and mental health.
- Well developed skills and knowledge around the provision of residential and day services for clients.
- High level knowledge of legislation and issues around the use of physical intervention.
