Job summary

There has never been a more exciting time to apply for a Trainee Nursing Associate Apprenticeship role!

The TNA Apprenticeship is a 24 month training course that is being offered in collaboration with Higher Education Institutes. We work with the University West of England and Weston College on our Trainee Nurse Associate apprenticeships. This cohort will be with UWE and commence in March 2024.

This work based apprenticeship provides the opportunity to develop both professionally and academically in order to register with the Nursing Midwifery Council as a qualified Nurse Associate. If you are looking for a new exciting challenge then we would welcome an application from you.

This developmental role allows our trainees to work towards progression into the post of Nurse Associate through successful completion of the training programme which includes the attainment of a level 5 Foundation Degree equivalent qualification. Successful candidates will commence the trainee role at a Band 3 until completion of the apprenticeship where you will then be eligible to move into a Band 4 Nurse Associate role. All apprentices will need to interview for available posts after completing the apprenticeship which lasts up to 2 years. Only apprentices who successfully complete the apprenticeship and pass an interview will be offered a permanent Band 4 contract.

Main duties of the job

This work based apprenticeship provides the opportunity to develop both professionally and academically in order to register with the Nursing Midwifery Council as a qualified Nurse Associate.

You will develop and maintain knowledge, skills and competencies related to the role of Nurse Associate within the service and through completion of the Nurse Associate training programme which includes working in health settings and delivery of person-centred healthcare. You will be supported by a wealth of clinically experienced Nurses in our Community Integrated Network Teams.

The Nurse Associate training programme combines and integrates both academic and work-based learning through close collaboration between employers and Higher Education Institutes. You will be based, as an employee in a team, working as part of the multi disciplinary team that they gain a wide appreciation of many health and care contexts and are able to fulfil all the requirements of the programme.

You must be able to work at least 30 hours and have a full driving licence and access to car in work time (with business use car insurance).

Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSE Grade 4/C or above or a Functional Skills Level 2 equivalent in Maths and English
  • NVQ level 3, BTEC National Diploma Access to HE Diploma, A Levels (minimum grade C), or other equivalent level 3 qualifications

Desirable

  • Care certificate (if you do not currently possess this, you must be prepared to achieve this in the first 6 months of the apprenticeship)

Additional Criteria

Essential

  • Full clean driving licence and access to a car with business insurance
  • The ability to work a minimum of 30 hours.

  • Understanding of your scope of practice whilst training.
  • Good organisational and communication skills.
  • Understanding of the manual handling elements of the role.
