Job summary

Are you excited by the prospect of working in a forward-thinking MSK service?

We are looking for highly knowledgeable applicants with significant MSK experience to work in our dynamic service in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. Due to the integrated nature of the service there is opportunity to discuss portfolio roles appropriate to your experience and career aspirations. The roles currently available include B7 & B8a First Contact Physiotherapist (FCP), B8a Advanced MSK Physiotherapist and locality Musculoskeletal Interface (MSKI) and FCP lead , and B7 MSK Physiotherapy (MSKP) roles.

These posts benefit from full integration with the wider MSK pathway including access to MSK physiotherapy and interface services, peer support and advice from interface and secondary care colleagues, a robust governance framework, and direct referral links with acute providers across including radiology, pain services and orthopaedics

Main duties of the job

As an autonomous practitioner you will provide high level clinical assessment and management plans for self-referred patients, often with challenging presentations and complex needs. You will be line managed by a Depending on your experience you will either receive training for or have access to the following to facilitate effective patient care:

Shared Decision Making 

Evidence based patient information website 

Signposting to local healthier lifestyle providers and recommended applications (apps) Diagnostic investigation via local providers under a standardised protocol including X ray, Ultrasound, MRI and Bloods 

Direct referral access to secondary care pathways inc Orthopaedics, Rheumatology, Pain service, Community services 

Musculoskeletal Injection Therapy 

Interventional Radiology via standardised protocol including US guided injections 

Non-medical Prescribing

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in Physiotherapy.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Able to demonstrate in practice portfolio experience in core physiotherapy and MSK physiotherapy.
  • Can demonstrate experience of working to a Masters level/ Level 7. E.g. Masters modules

Desirable

  • Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).
  • Holds a Musculoskeletal injection therapy qualification.
  • Evidence of current or previous completion of Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations (IR(ME)R) and experience of referring for diagnostic investigations

Experience

Essential

  • Significant previous experience working in advanced practice post
  • Advanced clinical reasoning skills.
  • Advanced manual therapy skills.
  • Musculoskeletal Injections.

Desirable

  • Non-Medical prescriber
  • Knowledge and experience of referring for and interpreting diagnostic MSK bloods
  • Musculoskeletal Injections.
