This job is now closed

Job summary

The Sirona Speech & Language Therapy team consists of around 90 qualified staff and assistants. The team is split into three geographical areas and each area has an early years and a school age team. Many staff work in more than one team. There is a specialist pathway for Autism assessment. There are also teams working with the more complex children in dysphagia and AAC. There are also Stammering and Deafness teams.

The early years service has a universal team offering training and drop ins. Once children are referred to the service they are seen in community clinics for assessment, advice and intervention blocks.

The school aged team offer a link therapy service into mainstream primary and secondary schools across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. Work primarily takes place within the schools, offering universal, targeted and specialist services

There are specialist support teams as part of the school aged service, including for speech sound disorders.

Whilst many of our posts are advertised on a fixed term basis, there are frequently new opportunities arising within the team for staff who are keen to stay in the service.

We have considerable experience of supporting newly qualified therapists through their initial probation and competency development and strive to support them to find further development opportunities within the team as they arise.

Main duties of the job

This is a Band 5 role with sessions in mainstream schools as a link SLT based in both Bristol and South Gloucestershire. The postholder will work within a locality team of therapists, to be responsible for supporting the CYP who attend mainstream primary and secondary schools. You will be the link therapist for a group of schools, offering liaison meetings with the SENDCo, drop in clinics for families and offering direct assessment and therapy for children with SLCN.
