Job summary

The integrated Immunisation Team comprises of;

The School-aged Immunisation Team

The team undertakes the promotion and planning of high quality, safe and efficient delivery of immunisation programmes to all eligible children and young people across BNSSG within schools and community settings across Bristol and South Gloucestershire, as directed by Public Health England. Programmes currently provided are: HPV doses 1 and 2, Meningitis ACYW and DTP, Childhood Flu programme and COVID vaccinations..

The Sirona Staff and Inpatient Flu Vaccinations Initiative

The team supports vaccination of staff and inpatients (Sirona rehabilitation Units) across the BNSSG.

The Outreach Vaccination Team

The Outreach Team provide the delivery of COVID vaccinations in community settings to eradicate barriers to booking and receiving vaccinations; with the aim to maximise vaccination uptake across the Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire region. The team will provide and deliver vaccinations across a range of venues; including their place of work, worship, homeless shelters and hostels, own homes/housebound, care homes, schools, sports centres, community centres and shopping centres utilising a variety of different delivery models.

Main duties of the job

Maintain effective communication with children, young people and their families at all times.

Excellent interpersonal skills via telephone and face to face, with a variety of colleagues, carers / parents, and professionals.

Work collaboratively with School Nurses, Education staff, Primary Care and Public Health to ensure good communication and to support the planning and delivery of a high quality and efficient School Immunisation programme.

Work in collaboration with teams to maximise vaccination uptake and meet vaccination targets set by NHS England.

Provide flexible administrative support including data entry during and after the immunisation sessions, clinic appointments processes and during training activities as directed by the Lead Nurse.

Assist with the packing of vaccines and the collation of equipment required for each immunisation session.

Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of equipment is maintained in line with infection control and health and safety policies.

Ensure that the cold chain procedures are maintained when receiving, packing and during Immunisation sessions in line with the local Immunisation Standard Operating procedures.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Functional Literacy and Numeracy Level 2 / GCSE grade A-C or equivalent including English Language and Mathematics / NVQ2 ?VQ2 / level 2 diploma
  • Trained in a range of systems / IT applications relevant to the role e.g. email, word and excel programmes, ordering, data collection
  • Previous secretarial experience dealing with telephone enquiries, correspondence, office administration

Desirable

  • Educated to AS/A level standard
  • NVQ3, VQ3, BTEC certificate and diploma level 3

Experience

Essential

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills written and verbal.
  • Able to deal sensitively with anxious /distressed children and adults.
  • Proactive approach highly self motivated with ability to use own initiative.
