Our Migrant Health services support local migrant communities to make sure everyone living in the area has equal access to healthcare, regardless of the language they speak, their culture, nationality, religion or belief.
The Haven helps Asylum Seekers and new Refugees to access health services and other services they need. This is part of the Health Equity & Inclusion Service at Sirona care & health CIC.
This is an opportunity to progress your career and takeresponsibility for identifying and assessing the health needs of Asylum Seeker and Refugee adults and children. You'll be developing, implementing and evaluating programmes of care with onward referral to other health providers, disciplines and agencies, as necessary.
Working hours of the service: 08:00am - 17:00 Monday - Friday (excl to role specific)
Main duties of the job
Facilitate access to appropriate health and social care for Asylum Seekers and Refugees who attend the Haven service, from across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire areas, by close liaison with primary care providers and other agencies, to establish an integratd and coordinated delivery of care.
Provide a holistic assessment of health care needs for Asylum Seekers and Refugees attending The Haven clinic and promote the uptake of health screening and preventative health care.
Assess needs across a spectrum of age groups, some with diverse and complex health needs, with referral onto appropriate Specialist Services as required.
Identify language requirements and use appropriate interpretation methods for discussions with non-English speaking clients, e.g. by interpretation via the telephone. o Understand cross-cultural issues that may affect Refugees and Asylum Seekers and employ an empathetic and flexible approach when discussing sensitive subjects.
