Job summary
We are looking for a motivated person who loves working with children and young people, to join our dynamic and friendly Occupational Therapy team.
As an Occupational Therapy Technician, you will be working in a variety of settings such as clinics, schools, early years settings and within children's own homes, helping children and young people develop independence and functional skills to meet their physical potential.
You will be based in the South Gloucestershire Integrated Therapy team, and as part of the BNSSG wide service.
To carry out this role you will be required to travel across sites so would benefit from holding a valid drivers licence and have access to a vehicle that can be used for work.
Please note this is a part time position for 22.5 hours per week.
We are unable to provide sponsorship for this role and can only accept applications from UK based applicants.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role will be to work directly with children and young people to carry out therapy programmes which have been set out by the Occupational therapists;such as self-care skills, fine and gross motor tasks and play skills.
You will be be involved in supporting therapists in specialist equipment assessments, maintain and administer equipment as well as assisting with clinics.
You will be required to record your work in the child's medical records and report back to the therapists.
There will be the need to make some resources, manage stock, and clinic space and support the set up and running of clinics.
You will be supporting the running of a sensory advice line.
You will be expected to attend regular supervision and training but will need to be able to work autonomously.
You will need to have good communication skills while working with children and families and with education and health colleagues.
