Job summary

The Children's Therapy Services identify, assess, support and manage the health needs of children and young people aged 0-18 years, working closely with children and their families in health settings and family homes; and with education colleagues in early years and school settings.The Children's Therapy services cover Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. Services are offered in various parts of these localities to facilitate easy access for families.

Main duties of the job

  • To practice as a highly specialist clinical practitioner, being a source of expertise, providing support, supervision, teaching, advice and consultation across BNSSG.
  • To offer highly specialist clinical expertise within paediatric dysphagia and complex needs communication support, and to carry own highly specialist case load within this area.
  • To provide an outreach dysphagia assessment and therapy service to children with complex needs in mainstream schools
  • To provide dysphagia and communication assessment and therapy support as required to children in special schools within BNSSG.
  • To work closely with the multi-disciplinary team around the child.
  • You will collaborate with the Clinical Lead for Dysphagia to manage the Speech & Language Therapy Service to children with Complex Needs.
  • To support the team through the transformation of their service, currently underway, in collaboration with Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy service transformations.
  • You will have line management responsibilities of some staff and be responsible for holding team meetings.
  • You will support the overview of locality performance on RTTs and EHCP targets
  • To provide clinical and day to day leadership within Complex Needs (including dysphagia) and be a first point of contact for the team for queries and concerns.
