Job summary
To Support the use of IT within Sirona by providing 1st line IT support covering a range of software and hardware running over LAN and WAN infrastructures.
You will administer the Service Desk system, logging all calls, diagnosing software and hardware faults, allocate jobs accordingly to 2nd line and other teams and monitor the status of open jobs in line with the department's Service Level Agreements. Strong communication is key to this role and the post holder will need to be very effective in the area.
Main duties of the job
- To act as ambassador for the IT department communicating effectively and clearly; in a polite and courteous manner, providing an excellent 'front of house' function for the department, sealing with sensitive or confidential information appropriately at all times. Communication or requesting completed technical information in a manner that can be understood by non- technical or unskilled users.
- To provide first line IT technical assistance, training and advice on the operational support of PC's, peripherals and other associated hardware, either in person, by telephone or via remote control.
- To provide first line support for a range of software centered around but not limited to the Microsoft platform and NHS national systems.
- To administer the Service Desk system by logging calls, allocating jobs as appropriate within the department and monitoring the open jobs in accordance with ITIL industry best practice standards and agreed Service Levels.
- To monitor the Service desk email account and self service system, working within agreed targets for response, logging and processing queries as appropriate.
- Able to operate and use a CTI (Computer Telephone Integration) system, ensuring personal familiarity with the understanding of appropriate business continuity and disaster recovery procedures and processes to ensure the effects of system downtime can be mitigated.
