Job summary
We are looking to recruit a Rehabilitation Support worker to join our Skylark Rehabilitation Unit. If you have excellent communication skills, a positive attitude and a willingness to learn, we would love to hear from you.
On our 30 bedded unit we provide rehabilitation for adults following episodes of acute illness and injury with the aim to ensure timely discharge. We actively promote a multi-disciplinary model, where Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Rehabilitation Support Workers work closely with the Nursing team, ensuring the patients are kept at the centre of decision making.
Previous healthcare experience is not essential - the team are supportive, friendly and willing to train successful candidates.

Main duties of the job
- Promote optimum independence through encouraging rehabilitation techniques.
- Undertake a variety of tasks and techniques that will improve function and mobility, supporting patients to optimise their abilities.
- Work with the team to ensure appropriate and timely discharge for all patients.
- Caring for patients, some of whom may have complex needs, be confused or distressed and need reassurance and distraction.
- Assist patients with transfers and mobility with appropriate aids.
- Carry out basic are needs such as feeding, toileting and assisting patients to wash and dress, assessing their needs and levels of independence.
- Organising and participating with patient groups, e.g exercise, remedial and orientation.
- Work with patients individually with one to one activities and exercises.
- Accurately document any intervention with patients in their notes.
- Record accurate and timely patient statistics.
- Have initiative to research and implement appropriate wellbeing activities.
- Ensure quality of life including end of life care recognising the individual needs, rights, privacy and dignity of patients are respected at all times.
- Assist the clinicians to monitor and evaluate care by informing them of any changes.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times according to policy.
- Undertake and complete work-based competencies.
