The Sirona Adult Learning Disability Health Service (ALDHS):
The ALDHS is a centre of excellence for specialist learning disability health needs. We are organised in 3 localities where multidisciplinary teams enable our service users to access health services through direct care, liaison with other services and offering support and training on how to work with people who have a learning disability (LD) and how to make reasonable adjustments.

The Role:
This post has been newly developed and an exciting opportunity for an experienced practitioner to be involved with improving health outcomes for people with a Learning Disability across the system.
The purpose of this role is to support the learning from lives and deaths (LeDeR) national programme, and local key themes and trends, supporting the service specification of ensuring that learning disability is "everyone's business". In conjunction with ALDH Clinical Project Co-ordinator, this role will provide support and advice to staff across the service as required.
The role will support the development and delivery of service improvements resulting from key themes from LeDeR, as well as other projects and training to promote inclusion and improved health outcomes for people with LD.
Main duties of the job
The Learning Disability Clinical Project Officer will work alongside health service colleagues and service users to identify barriers for people with a Learning Disability to accessing their services. The postholder will also be required to undertake reviews of research available on Learning Disabilities access to health care, the reasonable adjustments used and the evidence produced. Including from Learning from Lives and Deaths People with a Learning Disability and autistic people (LeDeR). The role will be varied in approaches and interventions required. Comprehensive communication and liaison skills are essential to support the development of pathways and reasonable adjustments required.
The successful applicant will have comprehensive understanding of the health needs of people who have a learning disability. In addition, understanding the barriers people with a learning disability face in accessing healthcare and the reasonable adjustments required to access them is essential for this role. The successful applicant will be passionate about facilitating access to healthcare services and have the clinical knowledge and skills to meet the needs of the learning disability population.
