South Bristol Rehabilitation Unit is located within South Bristol Community Hospital (SBCH) and is a 30 bedded unit which has built up a reputation for delivering excellent patient centred care and enthusiastic teamwork.
The service supports patients to recover and regain their independence following admission to an acute hospital and the team consists of registered nurses, therapists, advanced clinical practitioners, General Practitioners and a range of unregistered support workers.
As a therapy-based Rehabilitation Support Worker you will assist with the rehabilitation and therapy of patients delegated to and supervised by the registered therapists to include physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech and language therapists.
Your role will provide support to the therapy team, collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team and contribute positively to the delivery of high-quality, compassionate care centred around the core principles of recovery and rehabilitation and the patients wishes.

Main duties of the job
As a Support Worker, you will contribute to the holistic assessment of patients by assisting clinical staff in the assessment and treatment of patients referred to the inpatient rehabilitation unit.
Your role will include but is not limited to moving and handling, supervising patients with personal and domestic living activities, adaptions of mobility aids, provision and fitting of basic aids and collecting of data such as Elderly Mobility Scores (EMS).
You will assist in the running of group treatments, including leading on independent treatment groups as prescribed by the treating therapists.
You will be required to maintain accurate, legible, and contemporaneous service patients records (paper/electronic) in line with documentation guides.
To undertake and complete the appropriate training, supported by a robust competency framework, within the time allocated, to carry out the requirements of the role and a deliver a competent clinical service.
